General Requirements

To apply for a room at Le 12 Hébert, all candidates must meet the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in a recognized educational institution (university, CÉGEP, language school, etc.)
  • Provide a valid admission letter or current enrolment certificate
  • Demonstrate sufficient financial resources for the duration of the stay (scholarship, family support, own income)
  • Commit to respecting shared living rules (cleanliness of common areas, quiet hours, etc.)
  • Minimum stay: 3 months

International Students: Required Documents

If you are coming from outside Canada, additional administrative steps are required before your arrival. Here is what you need to prepare:

CAQ — Certificat d'Acceptation du Québec

Required for any study program of 6 months or more in Quebec. Issued by the Quebec government (MIFI). Allow 3–5 weeks processing time. Must be obtained before applying for the federal study permit.

Study Permit — Government of Canada

Federal document required to study legally in Canada. Apply online through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Processing times vary by country of origin (generally 4–12 weeks).

Valid Passport

Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay. Make sure it does not expire during your program.

Proof of Enrolment

Official admission letter or enrolment certificate from your Quebec institution, confirming the program and dates.

Proof of Financial Resources

Recent bank statement, scholarship letter, or family financial support letter. The Canadian government recommends approximately CAD $10,000 available for a year of study (excluding tuition).

Health Coverage

Some countries have agreements with Quebec giving access to the RAMQ (provincial health insurance). Otherwise, private health insurance is strongly recommended for the duration of your stay.
